Hypothesis
I think that Jazz music will have an affect on plant growth.
Because plants can hear vibrations, they will grow better with music than without it.
Research
1 : does music affect plant growth?
Music does affects plants growth because of the vibrations that comes from it.
2 : does different kinds if music affect a plant growth differently
Classical and jazz music increases plant growth but metal music causes stress and makes the plant die
3 : is it the sound or vibration of music that affects the growth
The sound waves from music will cause vibrations that impact the plants.
Variables
INDEPENDENT :
- Presence of jazz music
DEPENDENT :
- Plant growth
- Sprouting time
- Slight color change
CONTROLLED :
- Same spot
- Water
- Soil
- Seeds
- Sunlight
Procedure
1 : Get your cup and fill it with warm water
2 : Pour the warm water over the dirt trays
3 : When dirt is wet, take your chopstick and poke a little hole in each dirt block.
4 : Put one seed in each hole
5 : Cover up the seed with some excess dirt
6 : Label each dirt tray, “Music” and “No Music”
7 : Take your dirt trays to a window where they will not be disturbed by anything (animals, people, cleaning, etc.)
8 : Play the same Jazz playlist everyday for twenty minutes each day at sundown.
9 : move music plants to another room then play music for it.
10 : Water your plants a cup two times a week
Observations
1 : Every day i put the phone on the same half of the music plant and that side sprouted faster than the side that was further away from the phone.
2 : The music tray sprouted faster and it had more plants during the experiment time frame.
3 : All plans bent towards the sun each day.
4 : at the end of experiment the music plant was bigger than the no music plant
Analysis
i wanted to see if mucic could have an effect on plant growth so for twenty minutes a day i played jazz music for on pot of flowers and, the pot that had music grew faster and taller than the pot with no music. the pot that had music, the side of that pot that was closer to the vibrations of the music grew faster than the side further away from the music.
Conclusion
My hypothesis was that jazz music would impact the growth of the plants. Plants exposed to music sprouted sooner, grew much faster and taller. I learned that Jazz music does help plants grow. I think that not only do the plants hear the music but respond to the vibrations. My hypothesis was correct. My next steps are to try other kinds of music to see if I get the same results.
Application
Sources Of Error
- having to skip two nights not to play music
- first putting them in a spot where they would be botherd (quickly fixed)
