Hypothesis
I hypothesize that mass has an effect on vibration. Thus, the HEAVIER the object is, the LOWER its vibration level is, and the LESS an object weighs, the HIGHER its vibration levels are.
Research
- Less vibration means more mass
- Vibration frequency is reduced by high mass
- More mass means less vibration
- Bigger objects vibrate less
- Smaller objects move more
6.Small objects weigh less and big objects weigh more
Variables
The controlled variables are the motors and batteries.
The uncontrolled variables are the size of the brushes
Procedure
(This procedure is for the experiment)
1.Peel the wrapper of the tape off and put it on the front of the toothbrush head.
2.Put the coin cell battery on the tape which should be on the front of the toothbrush head.
3.Stick the vibration motor on the back of the toothbrush head
4.Attach the wires of the battery with the wires of the motor (remember red with red and black with black/blue
Observations
I observed that the bigger toothbrush moved slower than the smaller one.
I also observed that the small toothbrush vibrated more.
The big toothbrush did vibrate but the vibration was weaker.
Analysis
I analysed that the bigger toothbrush moved slower than the smaller one.
I also observed that the small toothbrush vibrated more.
The big toothbrush did vibrate but the vibration was weaker.
Conclusion
My hypothesis was proven correct. After my experiment I got my answer, mass does have an effect on vibration energy and frequency. Heavy objects move less and have a weaker vibration even with the same vibration source. The objects that weigh less, vibrate more and have stronger vibrations.
