WHAT IS GPA?

The grade point average (GPA) is a figure that indicates how well or poorly you performed in a course or class. GPA is commonly used in higher education, including high schools, colleges, and universities.

GPA scales range from 1.0 to 4.0, and it tracks your academic improvement over time. GPA is used to measure whether you meet the criteria and objectives set by your high school or university

WHAT IS AN AVERAGE GPA

Your average GPA is used to assess your overall accomplishment in high school, college, or university. This figure is the correlated average for the term, semester, and year. Depending on your academic endeavours, your GPA score may improve or fall.

 Globally, the average GPA varies. For example, in Canada, the lowest GPA is 1.0 and the highest is 4.0. In Russia and Nigeria, the GPA scale extends from 1.0 to 5.0, but in Australia it can go up to 7.0. Although GPA’s vary by country, the global average is 3.0.

HOW IS GPA CALCULATED

How is GPA calculated?Well,to calculate your GPA You must first determine the total number of points earned by the overall number of graded units undertaken.

A+= 4

A= 4

A-= 3.7

B+= 3.3

B= 3

B-= 2.7

C+= 2.33

C=2.00

C-=1.67

D+= 1.33

D= 1.00

D-= 0.67

F= 0.00

You can also calculate GPA by dividing your percentage points by 100 then multiplying it by 4.Ex:

18/21 =0.86 divided by 100 equals 0.86. 0.86 by 4 equals 3.44.

3.44 would be your average GPA

IS GPA REALLY IMPORTANT?

Yes, your GPA is likely to have an impact on your future opportunities or profession. The GPA indicates how much a student understands, their talents and shortcomings, and, of course, how hard they studied. Students with good GPAs will have more opportunities.

For example, there are many schools and institutions to choose from when enrolling in a postgraduate or graduate degree, apply for a scholarship, and get involved in some extracurricular activities such as volunteering, sports, etc.

CAN YOU IMPROVE YOUR GPA?

Improving your GPA will need a significant amount of time and effort across multiple classes and semesters. There are numerous ways to raise your GPA, such as handing in your schoolwork on time. Turning in your homework on time will significantly improve your GPA since, even if your assignment is worthy of an A, your teacher or professor may deduct points for late submission. Avoid arriving late to class as you may miss important information if you do so.

Even if you are sick or elsewhere, it is critical to maintain track of your homework and assignments. Make sure you study! Make sure you have a set amount of time to study for tests and exams. Many people have varied study methods; for example, some students benefit from having a study companion, while others prefer to work alone. Finding your preferred study style will help you improve your GPA.

ONLINE    VS  TRADITIONAL

Technology has advanced through the years and has become a great source of education.But is it really?well there are many benefits of learning online such as flexibility.you could easily look up something online for example a research paper or and essay.Online education is even an advantage to teachers as it is easier and faster to grade tests and homework online.There are a good sum of disadvantages when  it comes to online education. For example in an online exam some technical issues may occur such as no internet connection/wifi.Students may even decide to cheat if the teacher has not set proper ruling.Some people are better at writing on paper than on a computer which can cause a few setbacks for the student.

Just like online learning,traditional learning has its disadvantages and its advantages.Being able to connect and use physical communication is one of the advantages as some struggle to pay attention. looking at a screen all day doesn't give much motivation and it is really not good for your health.Sitting down too much can raise a number of health concerns such as;unhealthy cholesterol levels,high blood sugar,obesity and increased blood pressure. Another amazing advantage of onsite learning is that you can understand more.With online education/learning you will most likely have to teach yourself  as a teacher,tutor,instructor or professor won’t be there to help.Your almost always on your own when it comes to learning online.

 WHICH IS BETTER?

Which is better in terms of GPA? As we previously stated, online education has a few detrimental effects on students.

The primary challenge with online education is persistence and motivation. Online education does not provide that. If a student takes an online course instead of an in-person one, their chances of staying persistent throughout the semester reduce by 7 percentage points, resulting in a final grade lower than 3.0.

Data

There is an 11-point differences between the back and front of the class. Each of the six students we chose had to take a test (specifically science) at the front and back of the classroom.

We observed that students taking the test in the back of the class appeared less focused and confused, whereas students taking the test in the front of the class appeared more focused and attentive to the test.

             BACK OF THE CLASS

Student 1:  2.3      C+

Student 2:  1.7       D

Student 3:  1.7       D

Student 4:  0.8     F

Student 5:  1.2       D

Overall: 38%

             FRONT OF THE CLASS

Student 1:  2.1      C

Student 2:  2.3     C+

Student 3:  2.0     C

Student 4:  1.3       D+

Student 5: 2.0       C

Overall: 49%

Conclusion

In conclusion, our hypothesis was right, and sitting in the front of the classroom increases your chances of achieving a better GPA. Sitting in the front of the classroom also helps you focus your attention on the lesson, teacher, or professor.

If a student is not paying attention in class, teachers will most likely move that student to the front of the classroom where they are more likely to focus, mostly because they are more under the watchful eye of the teacher or professor, and the distractions all around the classroom such as a hidden electronic or that student's peers.

Finally, we would want to emphasise the importance of education, which is the key to success. It enables individuals to meet work qualifications and makes it easier to secure better jobs
