I think that silk will be the most perfume long lasting fabric, because it is a lightweight fabric and not a waterproof fabric,so the perfume will stay on the fabric longer and it will absorb. I think that felt will have the least scent within 20-30 minutes because it is poofy and fuzzy.

I researched which fabric type perfume stays longest on and it said that on smooth fabrics like silk and polyester hold perfume the longest. I also asked which fabric holds perfume the best and it said fabrics with higher cotton content like cotton. I also searched to see what fabric absorbs perfume the best and it said cotton.1 of the websites I researched what fabric holds perfume the best and it said natural materials like cashmere,cotton silk wool or linen. On Most of the websites I used said cotton but some said different things like silk or polyester.

Manipulated/dependent variable-My manipulated/dependent variable is the fabric, because I am going to see what fabric holds perfume the longest.

Responding/independent variable-My responding/independent variable is the smell, so how long the scent stays on the fabric.

Controlled variables-My controlled variables are the same amount of sprays on each fabric by the perfume.

1- First take all the fabrics You want to try to see if the perfume stays long on them then cut them 6 inches wide and 6 inches long.

2- Second, lay them all down and spray 3 sprays of perfume 4 inches away from the fabric on each sample of fabric.

3- Set a timer of 5 minutes and every five minutes to smell the fabric samples and check if the scent went away.

4- Which fabric perfume stays longest is your answer.

5-Keep all the data in your logbook tracked so you can remember.

6- YOUR DONE!

Silk-It is Really stretchy,it is Smooth and soft. it Is also silky and it makes me calm when I feel it. Silk is also like a drippy and is a sweaty fabric.

Cotton-It is rough,It is Not stretchy And it is not smooth.It reminds me of a bedsheet type of material.

Felt-Felt Has a Different Type of texture. It is in between soft and not soft, it is not stretchy and it is bumpy.Felt is also rough and not smooth.

Polyester- Polyester is not stretchy ,it is not silky. It is also soft and rough at the same time,it is in between.

Denim- It is really stretchy,It is soft and it is kind of smooth. It also is not silky and it feels like a towel kind of.Denim is one of the most stretchiest fabrics out of,cotton,polyester,silk, and felt.

I observed that as time went some of the fabrics started getting like a mark/blob on the fabric samples. I also observed that felt and denim holds perfume the least longest and the most scent was in cotton,silk or polyester.

Felts smell went away after 30 minutes. Denim's smell went away after 55 minutes. Polyester's smell went away after 210 minutes. The Silk smell went away after 230 minutes.I didn't wait to see how much cotton's smell went away after.I also observed that some of the fabrics smelled good at first but some smelt like less.

In my experiment I learned a lot of different things like fabrics are not all the same and that 3 sprays of perfume is a lot of perfume. In my experiment some of the fabrics got like a perfume stain because there was a blob of perfume on some of the fabrics that went away. In my experiment a lot of fabrics held perfume long but some didn't. I found out that if you want your perfume long , definitely wear cotton or silk or polyester, don't wear felt and denim.

My question was which type of fabric holds perfume the longest? The answer to my question is cotton. My hypothesis was correct and incorrect because I said that silk will be the most long lasting fabric for perfume but it was in 2nd place for that. I got my hypothesis right because I said that felt will be the one that is least long lasting for perfume.I didn't say that Denim would also not be long lasting but it was.

People would find this useful because, let's say someone didn't shower for a lot of days but they want to smell good so they would wear the fabric perfume that stays longest on.People would also find this useful because they would wear that fabric that holds perfume the longest if you want to smell good like half the day long. Knowing what fabric holds perfume the longest it can also kind of tell us which fabric holds sweat the most/longest because perfume is kind of like sweat.People would also find this useful because they would figure out which fabric to use if their doing a project like, what area does perfume stay longest on,the fabric that holds perfume the longest. They wouldn't waste their time by first checking what fabric perfume stays longest on.

Some fabric samples were cut wrong/ Not exactly 6 inches wide and 6 inches long.On 1 fabric I didn't spray from 4 inches away from the fabric. I sprayed on different areas of the fabric. First when I started spraying I didn't measure the length of how far I was spraying from. I also didn't spray some of the fabrics at the same time because I only have 2 hands so I can't do all the fabric samples together.Another source of error is, I didn't wait till cottons smell went away so I don't know when cottons smell will go away.I also used old perfume. My projects other source of error is that, the fabric samples weren’t all in one place because if they were I would have to stack so they were spread out.Another one is,some of my fabrics half like little cuts on the side of them while I was cutting they got those little cuts.
