Analysis

Resulting from the experiment came the following observations:

  • Although only a small number of people had dreams irrelevant to the genres they watch on social media, there is one common conclusion; all of them only have YouTube or spend most their time on YouTube.
  • While the people who have dreams relevant to their social media mainly watched things like comedy, horror, and celebrities, the others watched genres like art, DIY, and nature.
  • 77% of the people who dream with relevance to social media remember their dreams regulary, and 66% of the other group (2) does.
  •  Together, 50% of Group 1 (Relevant) spend their time on interactive apps.

Conclusion

  • Part of the hypothesis was correct. It seems that social media does have an effective impact on dreams. A big number of tweens have some sort of connection between social media genres and their dreams.
  • Many of the people who had relevance in their dreams spent 5+ hours on the media, but not above 50%.
  • 77% of people who had a connection between social media genres remembered their dreams, so the third part of the hypothesis, that most of them will remember, was correct.
  • If one changes their media genres, dreams will change too. For example, if one watches lots of scary posts. There is a chance that it will affect their dreams, and they will have frequent nightmares. If they change this, and watch other genres, they will have more peaceful dreams. This means that they will have improved sleep, and whilst dreams are healthy for the body, their lifestyle itself will change and become healthier.
