Pneumatic Props

2 props (A pumpkin monster and a boxing glove) that moves based off of a pneumatic system with an air compressor and a controller
Grade 5

Hypothesis

This experiment will demonstrate if a dynamic prop can be created with an air compressor.

Research

This was not a research based project. This project is a demonstration of a working system from various engineering components.

Variables

The air compressor is 150 PSI

the soleniod allows air to go through

cylinder makes it move by pushing up a rod with air from the air compressor

This powers the system..

Procedure

1. Create prop with movement device(Scissors Mechanism)
2. Connect prop to air hoses back to Picaboo controller
3. Connect Picaboo Prop Controller to air compressor and electrical plugin
4. Correctly wire the Picaboo Prop Controllers to control the solenoids (Including programming the overall Switch)

Observations

We built a working prop to demonstrate an air compressor system with a controller, solenoids, and cylinder.

The controller tells the soleniod to trigger

The solenoid allows air to go through the airline to the cylinder

Analysis

The analysis involves reviewing the system as a whole.

The individual components were

Air Compressor -

Airlines - to make the air flow correctly

The controller -

The solenoid

The cylinder -

These are the pieces that make up the whole experiment

Conclusion

In the end, we created a prop powered by an air compressor to show controlled movement.  This involved power provided by the air compressor. Timing was made possible with the Controller. Other pieces involved the solenoids which let the air go through to to the cylinder. The cylinders made the prop move putting this all together resulted in a working demonstration.

Application

The application of this experiment can be applied to other similar systems involving the air compressor to power a system. These systems can involve other applications of solenoids, cylinders, controllers to make use of air pressure provided by the air compresor.

Sources Of Error

This experiment did not involve collection of data. So this does not apply to this experiment.

Citations

This experiment did not involve referencing other books or papers. In large part, this was built using components such as the air compressor, solenoids, cylinders, controller and other items. No real citations to show for.
