Hi! My name is Minnah and I will be doing coronavirus as my science fair project this year. What's the problem with this? Well, the problem with this is, people don't understand why we're social distancing, wearing masks, washing our hands every now and then. Another prblem with this is,millions of people have lost their lives to this virus. In fact,as of 20th - 27th of February, there were 384,561 new cases of coronavirus worldwide. As the virus settles in a person's body, Coronavirus is most likely to infect older people AND people with weak immune systems. So, my goal is to help people understand why this pandemic started, why we take these precautions, where this emerged, and how we can restore peace and harmony into our lives again.
For my science fair project, I gathered my information from websites because, I didn't have access to any books on my topic. Then, I changed words into my own words. I did this for all of the resources I used.
Research shows, that Coronavirus is a disease that began in Wuhan, China caused by a new species of virus called Novel Coronavirus. This virus belongs to a member of coronavirus first recognized in the 1960's. These viruses are the masters at causing common colds and even life threatening colds like SARS and MERS. Covid-19 originated from animals and is a type of zoonatic disease. Alot of the first infected people either got this virus from working or shopping at the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in the center of Wuhan city China that sells both dead AND live animals. Internationally, at 4:53 pm CET March 9th 2021, there have been 116,874,912 confirmed cases of Covid 19 and, those are simply the confirmed cases what about the people who haven't got tested yet? Adding on to that, there were 2,597,381 confirmed deaths. The only way we can prtect ourselves from this virus is if we wash our hands, sanitize our hands, social distance and wear our masks.
In my project I used a few charts from the WHO (World Health Organization) website to figure out how many people died and how many people got infected.
With my project, I hope you've realized that in this situation, there is no "me" there's only "we." Meaning that right now, you can't go to the store and take all the toilet paper to yourself or take all the sanitizers to yourself . We need to understand we are expected to care for others the way we expect them to care for us. We need to be empathetic with each other. Concerning Covid-19, We need to wash our hands regularly ( or sanitize if soap and water isn't available) keep our masks on and social distance when we can.
Firstly, I would like to thank my best friend Beza Menede, for encouraging me to keep going and not quit, she aso helped give positive feedback. Secondly, I would like to thank Finley Rees for taking time out of is day to help me go over my work and give me feedback. Thirdly, I would like to thank my parents for helping me go over my work and giving me some tips on how to improve. Fourthly, I will like to thank my supervisor for answering some questions that I had, which allowed me to get where I am today. Lastly, I would like to thank Ingy Shalabi for helping me brainstorm ideas and finally, I chose to do coronavirus.
In General, I would like to say a big thankyou to the people in my life that kept me going, not allowing me to quit and believing in me. This would have never been possible without you.
