How do Greenhouse gasses effect people around the world
Grade 6
Presentation
Problem
How do GreenHouse gases affect people in different regions across the globe?
Why I am doing this problem: I think that people only talk about how global warming would affect Canada, the USA, and other well-known countries. We must realize that countries like Mali or Taiwan will also be affected. For example: Who knew that Sao Tome And Principe would get flooded by sea level rise? I want to rase awareness of other third-world countries, but I am still going to research well-known countries.
Method
How will i try to solve this problem?
I will research all regions of the world and how global warming affects people around the world!
Interview?
I don't know anyone who could help me in my problem
Where are you getting your resources?
Research, books
How are you going to figure out what's reliable?
If I see that lots of people are using the sourses I will use them
What is a GreenHouse gas?
Greenhouse Gasses are gasses that raise the surface temperature across the world
How much?
In Canada, more than 500 million metric tons of greenhouse gasses are produced every year
How are they produced?
When combustion of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas they produced
How long has greenhouse gas been produced?
A surprising 800,000 years!

What is Global warming?
It is when Earth starts warming up
Why are these important?
It is important because countries closer to the equator could kill people with the temperature ex: Democratic Republic of the Congo
What are the possible consequences, impact
( I will do this when I am done with my research )
FIRST REGION!! Northern America
How do GreenHouse gases affect people in Northern America?
In the USA extreme heat causes more death than other extreme disasters. The yearly deaths caused by heat is 1300+ in the United States of America. The July 1995 heat wave in Chicago caused 700 lives to pass away. About 65,0080 heat-related issues are seen in emergency rooms in the summer in the USA. In Canada, it has increased by 1*c since 1880. In
In Northern Canada, the temperature has increased by 2.3*c between 1948 and 2016!!!
2.
How do GreenHouse gases affect people in the Caribbean?
The majority of problems caused by greenhouse gases in the US Virgin Islands are related to water. Climate change impacts water because now in the Caribbean average temperature is rising and could go to 35c+. Also now a decrease in precipitation, more often floodings and droughts and also more intense weather. The leaders of Trinidad and Tobago believe that oil and gas production is a vital thing for the country but, Imtiaz Khan said that the rains of his childhood were peaceful and light. Mr. Khan said that the rains are more regular and there is serious flooding every year. Also said by Mr. Khan is that Clams, Oysters and many species of fish are in decline. " Fish go where there is more food and where they can reproduce," Mr. Khan said. " That's not here anymore"
3.
How do GreenHouse gases affect people in Central America?
The biggest weather threats to Costa Rica are tropical and subtropical weather storms. Somehow an extreme hurricane has never hit Costa Rican territory. When climate change does happen, El Nino is going to be common in Costa Rica. While Panama only produces 0.045 of greenhouse gas emissions ( Good job Panama! ). Climate has increased the chances of extreme weather events like storms, floods, and droughts. For Panama, this is bad because now it will affect the lives of the poorest people of Panama and Central America.
4. How do Greenhouse gasses affect people in South America
In South America, more than 99% of our world's tropical glaciers and 71% percent of the glaciers are in Peru! These glaciers are crucial to Peru's water supply. The glaciers slowly release water into rivers which provide drinking water, water for agriculture, and hydroelectricity. Studies also show that, since 1970, Peru's glaciers have lost a third of their surface area. Now it's unavoidable that glaciers that are melting will affect the lives of the water-poor country because even MORE water supplies are going to be taken away from the people.
5
How do Greenhouse gases affect people in North Africa?
Climate change affects North Africa because Libya's floods have a really big thing to do with climate change. It's not normal for Libya to have such heavy rain which could be because of climate change. The annual temperature in Morocco has increased in Morocco. One problem with this is the heat waves, Morocco is already a hot country but climate change will make Morocco way hotter.
6.
How do greenhouse gasses affect people in West Africa
In West Africa greenhouse gasses are already affecting people's agriculture and coastal economic activities. World Bank has identified a rise of sea levels which could flood entire CITIES. Also, coastal erosion is way worse because cities could just be cut off from land and sink!!! In 1962 Cabo Verde produced the least CO2 emission per capita with only 0.1t!!! Comparing it to 2011 each was 1.2t.
7.
How do greenhouse gasses affect people in Middle Africa?
Middle Africa effects people because people already are using way too much water in middle Africa so climate change could change lives. Also, it makes it way worse because Middle Africa is already growing population, so water is going to be a big resource needed. In middle Africa, there is a special country!!! Sao Tome and Principe, are the islands underneath Nigeria and Benin. The problem with Sao Tome and Principe is that it will SINK because of climate change. So approximately 223,000 people could die. Sao Tome and Principe is a country to take a lot of care of!
8.
How do Greenhouse gases affect people in East Africa?
In East Africa, Greenhouse gasses could potentially affect people by the increase and intensity in precipitation. This could affect water availability and will lead to less agriculture, which is not good considering that the GDP per capita of Kenya ( the country with the biggest economy in East Africa) is only 2081 USD which is 327632.64 Kenyan Shilling! Well in East Africa there are many island countries so let's see how Greenhouse gases affect them. In Madagascar ( NOT THE MOVIE) it will affect because less rain means dryer soils which will affect animals and humans!!!
9. How do Greenhouse gases affect people in Southern Africa?
In South Africa, it has become a BIG problem and now it can not be ignored. The annual temperature has doubled ( 0.7c)! Hot and cold extremes have increased. Now, rainfall is getting intense and it will affect everyone. Rainfall has also changed in seasonality!!! Heat waves come more and South Africa is already hot! The biggest problem is crops, now fewer crops are getting farmed which could affect the diet of people in Southern Africa. Since 1980 there have been 86! weather-related disasters in South Africa which have affected 22 million people, and greenhouse gases play a big part in them.
'
10. How do Greenhouse gases affect people in Northern Europe
The UK's greenhouse gas emissions were at 959 million tons, in 2007 it was 39% lower than 959 million tons. This shows how greenhouse gasses have become in the UK. Greenland wasn't so green because of its Ice and snow but, since greenhouse gasses are a thing the Ice is melting. Did you know? That the Arctic getting warmer way faster because of climate change?
11. How do greenhouse gases affect people in Western Europe?
Greenhouse gases affect the Dutch because now the Netherlands is increasing in droughts, and when it rains it is severe. So precipitation is a bad thing for the Netherlands but they need it! It has already affected the Netherlands with the extreme droughts of 2018 and 2019, and when the Netherlands finally got rain it caused flooding because it was so extreme.
12. How do greenhouse gasses affect people in East Europe
In Eastern Europe, it affects them with an increase in precipitation longer winters and fewer Summers. This can be bad because Eastern Europe is already a region that receives precipitation normally.
13. How do greenhouse gasses affect people in Southern Europe
In Southern Europe, the second largest country Italy would have some problems that could impact Italy in a lot of ways. Heatwaves, droughts, fires, brutal storms, and floods. These affect Italies people in more ways, agriculture, infrastructure, fisheries, tourism and more! I think that agriculture is an impactful problem, most people would know that Italy is famous for spaghetti, lasagna, pasta and all those foods come from wheat. Well in Spain it could affect people with higher temperatures, average sea level rise, and less water!
14 How do greenhouse gases affect people in Southeast Europe?
In Southeast Europe, one of the countries Bosnia and Herzegovina would have temperature increases and more extreme weather. We have seen by now the damage of these effects like heat waves and extreme rain. Albania a country also in Southeast Europe has already seen the impacts because over the last 2 decades ( 20 years) the frequency of natural disasters has increased and wildfires have also.
15. How do greenhouse gasses affect people in Northern Asia
Northern Asia has only 1 country and that is Russia. Russia will have the impact of the increase in droughts, bad precipitation, floods, and fires. This could affect the people through house damage and isolation
16. How do greenhouse gases affect people in Western Asia?
In West Asia one big affect that has already happended, they have problems with water resourses which is a big problem for West asia because West Asia is a dry region. But luckily UAE has found a solution with desalination. Which is when they take out the minerals that could effect living things. So in conclusion Western Asia isn't that vurnable with all the solutions like using dirty water.
17. How do Greenhouse gasses effect people in Eastern Asia?
Japan, an island country in East Asia already have big problems like rise in sea level and tsunamies, now the increase in temperature with water evaporating more Japan is not a safe country. More evaporating watr also means that rain is going to fall harder which could effect poorly-made-buildings. The Koreas have problems with the amount of rain. If greenhous gas emmissions increase without anyone stopping, by 2071 to 2100 the average precipitation will increase by 172.5 mm!.
18. How do Greenhouse gasses effect people in Southern Asia ans South Eastern Asia
South and Southeastern Asia is one of the most impacted by greenhouse gasses, which include intense heatwaves, cyclones, droughts, and floods are making the goverment make a lot of changes. It has been so bad that over the last 2 decades half of all south Asians have been effected by the disasters.
19. How do greenhouse gasses effect people in Central Asia
In Central Asia they are having hotter days with more droughts, floods, heatwaves, and forest fires. So Europe and Central Asia are simmilar.
20. How do greenhouse gasses effect people in Oceania
SInce Oceania is a island region rise in sea level is a big problem mostly for countries that are third world.

Conclusion
Subsequently 3 and a half months of research, I've come to a conclusion. Since every single region is on one planet, the affects are actually really similar. I first thought that since Southeast Asia and the Carribean are in 2 different areas they will have lots of different affects. But the reality is " we live on such a small world ". The afffects that every region faced were, droughts, heatwaves, extreme weather, rain that was really dangerous and climate change. One thing I think we can all reflect on is that there is no escaping, every region has been or will be affected. So it is us humans job to try to save the world before it gets messed up. If you read alll my research there is one thing for sure that could save Earth, it is getting rid of greenhouse gases. Even in USA, a country which has good doctors and nurses can't save the 1300+ people dying because of heatwaves every single year. But USA can't do anything because greenhouse gases have become a essential thing in USA and around the world but, the consquences are not noticed.
